Cartoons in Tribute

Political cartoons, no matter how witty, are a dime a dozen. Cartoons in tribute to someone who has passed away are pretty special. I started collecting a few some years back. I think it was when Bob Hope passed away at the age of 100 years.  As I was sorting through them today, many brought back memories of times past. I wish I had saved more. If anyone has some tribute cartoons I would sure appreciate it if you could send them to me. After a number of years they are hard to find on the internet.

BB King 1925-2015

Bob Hope 1903-2003

Carrie Fisher 1956-2016

Chuck Yeager 1923-2020

Gord Downie 1964-2017

The mathematician who took us to the moon

Pete Seeger 1919-2014

Peter Gzowski 1934-2002

Rita MacNeil 1944-2013

    1. Yes. We lost some great Canadian singers this past decade.

  2. They are clever - and a wonderful emotive tribute to people we have lost. And miss.

    1. We sure do miss them. The choirs on high are the better for them but on earth a little sadder.

  3. Aw. Some of these made me misty-eyed. But the Chuck Yeager one made me laugh - what a perfect cartoon!

  4. Jackiesue, thank you.

Diane, my favourite is Stephen Hawking leaving his disabilities behind and walking off into the universe. I have a picture of a gravestone with a wheelchair and a little boy in mid flight, leaving it behind. Always makes me sad.

  5. Sorry about that deleted comment, it was me, it was a test as I couldnt comment yesterday for some reason.
I love the idea of a cartoon tribute, as it always refers to what we remember that particular person for.... does that make sense! They all made me smile, but with a little sadness in my heart too.
