I agree the 1st one is a great song. Also I enjoyed them singing God Will Take Care of You. They had amazing harmony on the flashback to the 70s in Because He Lives.
It's funny to me that the men who used to sing that kind of music in my church wore flat-tops or at least short hair. They would have literally run the Oak Ridge Boys out of town back in the '50s and '60s.
I listened to all of these again this morning. Maybe that will be my Sunday blog from now on - gospel quartets. afcg, that would have pleased your dad from all you wrote about him. DC, they had great harmony and I too like the old songs but if anyone sings How Great Thou Art at my funeral, I will come back and haunt them. Snowbrush, ain't it the truth. We put so much stock in appearing religious - every religion/sub-sub-sub group has ideas about how one must dress appropriately to please God. What a crock. Whited sepulchers full of dead men's bones.

The first song was a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteMine too. That is why I put it first.
DeleteWe used four songs from an older Oak Ridge Boys gospel cd for my dad's funeral and video....it was just perfect!
