Home Again

They let me out early for good behaviour.  Been home 2 days, slept in my chair pretty much since. This is the first time at the keyboard since I got home.

It was one hell of a tummy tuck. 12 hours in surgery, including a two-hour break because I quit breathing, but I am all fixed up. If you really want to see what they started with, go to this link and scroll down. https://www1.racgp.org.au/ajgp/2018/september/a-gp-primer-on-incisional-hernia

Now I will wear a heavy abdominal binder for 8 weeks and then no heavy lifting ever again.

I will be back blogging and have a few ideas, dreamed up while laying in bed in hospital.  I will not miss the hospital but will miss the nurses.  I got such very good care. I told them |I only want to see them outside a hospital setting, in civies, having coffee.

My son says that now my surgeries are done, I will have nothing to talk about. Reminded me of the chick who dated a capon and complained all he did was talk about his operation.

  1. Yay! I'm glad to hear that everything went well (got you breathing again, etc.) and that your long surgical ordeal is over now except for the healing part! What a time of it you have had. I'm sure you'll be remaining in Regina for awhile for aftercare until you're completely healed. When do you anticipate being able to return home to Ukraine again?

    1. Tanya will go back likely end April if I can look after myself. I will go back end July after my daughter's wedding. Recovery from this one is a long haul they tell me. At least 8 weeks plus

  2. Oh. My. Not breathing = not good, and I'm sure we can call that a gross understatement. I'm glad they got you going again! Take good care of yourself. I imagine you are very relieved to have the surgery behind you.

    1. Oh, yes, so glad this is the last (scheduled) surgery. Never been so tired in my life but they tell me that is normal

  3. Boy, you have been through the war. Glad you are back. I wain nostalgic occasionally; but the truth is that today's medical advances have us all living longer and better.
I am sure you will take that 'no lifting'seriously - but sometimes it is hard to remember when you are feeling better.
    Be careful - best wishes

    1. No lifting will be the hard part, that is for sure. Nothing over 5 lbs for two months then take it easy.

  4. Glad you are breathing again! No heavy lifting? How are you going to take a leak? (Was that in bad taste?)
Glad you are back and healing!

    1. Now that was funny. I wish. I bought a 1 liter pee bottle made in Germany but found I did not have literhosen.

  5. Wow, what an ordeal. I'm glad everything went okay(ish, except for the not-breathing part) and you're on the mend. Take it easy, and get well soon. :-)

    1. Working on it. My sick humour has returned so that is a good sign.

  6. Didn't anyone ever tell you that stopping breathing for any length of time isn't really a very good idea? I guess you found out on your own.
Good news that you are through the operation, and now all you have to do is relax, recover, heal, and hire someone to do all the heavy lifting for you.
I'm glad to see you back on the blog!!!!!

    1. Blogs will still be scarce. Thinking exhausts me. Who knew it was such hard work.

  7. That comment on the literhosen: I don't understand whether you did not have Literhosen, the German beer, or a hose that fits on a one liter pee bottle made in Germany, or you did not have the lederhosen, the German pants that open downwards in the front? Perhaps you missed the target and got wet socks. This new definition will help you out: Literhosen: 1000 grams of wet socks = 1 literhosen.

Anyways, to find this out, I visited Regina on Wednesday and found you a bit tired after your walk, but in very good spirits. Happy healing!
