Ukrainian wheat fields and Russian ammunition dumps burn

The heavy weapons that Ukraine needed, 155 mm howitzers and HIMARS (Hi Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) (now 9), are arriving and being put to good use on the various fronts. In the past two weeks over 20 Russian ammunition dumps and command headquarters have been taken out with pinpoint accuracy. Russians have plenty of 152 mm howitzers and ammunition from Soviet times and are using WWI tactics of complete destruction, Ukrainians are using intelligence from various locations to destroy Russian logistics including deep in Russian held territory.

Ukrainian army has withdrawn from Lysychansk to previously prepared defense areas. Their tactics in the Donbas are to delay and destroy the Rashists, then withdraw and do it again. The Donbas front has advanced very little in the past two months at great cost in Russian lives and equipment. Ukrainian losses have also been high.

Heavy shelling continues and all Russian attacks are repulsed. Russia is taking an operational break to regroup and strategize after recent advances

Russia is running out of soldiers and has raised the recruitment age to 65 and is press ganging citizens of occupied territory. The Duma is subtly creating a war state by passing laws requiring firms to meet military demands. Russia is trying to reach total militarization without declaring it.

It is July and the winter crop harvest is in full swing. Russians are mining the fields and dropping flares to set the wheat on fire (https://twitter.com/i/status/1543212713177976833)  (https://twitter.com/i/status/1544719391283109889). Scorched earth tactics are as old as warfare and starvation as a weapon also. They are destroying grain in storage and stealing the rest for export. At the request of Ukraine, Turkey held a ship of stolen grain but recently released it. Erdogan is playing both sides with impunity as Turkey controls the only access to and from the Black Sea.

The southern and western front is where Ukraine is concentrating its counterattacks. It is a long front in open country so advances must be all along it and incremental. Russia is moving troops from one location to another to shore up weak spots but in doing so they create opportunities for Ukraine.

Ukraine is attacking all along the front and slowly [pushing the Russians back. They are close enough to make a major push to free Kherson at some point soon.

The MSM are ignoring this front completely. Do not trust anything in the New York Times or Washington Post. They focus only on Donbas and spin everything into bad news to turn Americans from supporting Ukraine. Ukraine is not beaten, is not discouraged, and is not running out of soldiers. As more heavy equipment arrives from America and other allies, they are in position to take the war to the Russians

  1. Awful. War, particularly one such as this, is a crime. A crime against humanity.

  2. It sad when people don't have enough to eat. There is some drought issue although not sure how bad, in our great plains. I heard Henry Kissinger mention in news interview about WW I

    1. Russia is creating famine in North Africa, deliberately. Henry Kissinger is a war criminal and would sell out Ukraine in a minute.

    2. If I recall correctly that Kissenger thought Ukraine should give some of there area to Russia. But I might not caught that right.

    3. You heard right. Kissinger said exactly that.

    1. No they will not give up. Those who have had to flee will most of them return home to rebuild the country when the war is over

    1. He may well soon enough but Patrushev is likely to be worse. Like wishing Trump would croak and getting DeSantis or Abbott.

  6. I just can't fathom the minds that think it's good and right to intentionally kill and maim and starve other human beings (or any living creature, for that matter). This makes me sick.

    1. Me too, Diane. Human inhumanity to human baffles me. Fear of scarcity of anything turns to hatred with a little coaxing

  7. Ukraine might be running low on everything but intestinal fortitude! I just wish that a decisive Ukrainian victory against Russia would come faster. Canada's decision to return natural gas turbines to Germany is wrong on several levels. Europe and North America should have developed geothermal energy infrastructure 40 years ago after the first OPEC oil crisis. The chickens are really coming home to roost now!

    1. You called it, Del. The Donbas front is a bad one for Ukraine and they have on occasion run out of artillery shells. They re putting their long range accurate artillery and HIMARS to good use but still face carpet bombing and random attacks on cities aimed at destroying and killing civilians. They are even converting old S300 rockets for use against ground targets.

  8. My admiration for the Ukrainian people and disgust with Russia and the War Crimes they're committing knows no bounds. I think so many other Countries are so distracted right now with their own internal chaos and turmoil that their focus isn't able to stay with any one thing going haywire in this Global meltdown right now. I think this Winter is going to see the Pandemic worsen again and Economies are in shambles and internal Politics in many Nations is a cluster fuck right now. I just wish Vlad the Terrible would FOAD and 45 also... the Planet minus those two Evil Men would be better off.

    1. Globally there is a great deal going on as you say. So far countries supporting Ukraine are still committed. Germany and France are the outliers, it seems. The heat wave in Europe right now is incredible and I gather that it is hitting America as well. London hit 40C which is an historic record. It was the second last day of school. My poor daughter was on a field trip with students and how they survived, I don't know. Agree that the world would be better off without Trump and Putin...and Erdogan and Modi and Xi and Orban and...
Yes, we are in for a heavy Covid winter. Double boostered and n95 masked but still vulnerable.

  9. Sound like your getting a long quite well. But I'm Thankful Trump didn't get in second term. I'm sure he would back Putin and being a country next Canada. It could make things super hard between United States and Canada.
