Dear Friends and Followers, it isn't fun anymore

I have been blogging for 20 years. It has been enjoyable as I have met some good friends through my blog, I have learned a great deal is doing the background work for many of them. But I am tired. Ukraine wears me out. Palestine really wore me out.

I am reminded of the man going on a honeymoon cruise who stopped to buy seasick pills and condoms. The druggest said, "If it makes you sick, why do you do it?"

I will keep my blog in case I get the urge again. And will drop in on yours from time to time too.

Many thank for your friendship over the years

  1. I'm sorry to see you retire from blogging, but you must do what's right for you. I understand feeling fatigued by life these days. Everything is just too, too overwhelming, isn't it. You're the second blogging buddy today who let me know they're not going to blog any longer. In time, there will be more, I know. None of us are getting any younger. I do hope you will pop by my blog occasionally and say "hi!" Wishing you all the best.

  4. Sympathies. A lot of us are feeling that way; I've been seeing similar remarks from a number of people. There's a feeling of exhaustion and also a sense that the world is balanced on the edge of a knife. And yet the world rolls on.

    1. Thanks, Raven. As my friends in Ukraine say. "Life is Life", and yes the world just goes on but it sure is scary. I couod have added the political situation in Canada and America also weigh on my mind.

  5. I'm sorry to see the end of the blog. But understand why. I write only of things that could be considered frivolous - quilting, sewing, needlework, whine about weeding. For me writing something coherent is *work*. I can't imagine what it must be like writing about weighty subjects of Ukraine and Palestine. Then dealing with troll-ish comments.
Thank you for letting us know you're stopping the blog. I hope you pop in now and then if only to say "we're doing OK".

    1. Thanks, Gail. I love to admire needle work and quilts. My late wife was fantastic at counted cross stitch. You could see it on the back of her work. I have/had several friends who quilt. Some lovely work.

  6. I'm sorry to see you leave blogland, but I completely understand. If it isn't fun anymore, why do it? I hope your health improves, and that you're able to find some hope, too. I've been disconnecting from the news a bit lately. I read headlines to stay (somewhat) current, but if the article is about something upsetting that I can't control or change in any way, I skim the headline and move on to read more positive stories. It's helping a bit - hope it helps you, too. All the best to you.

    1. Thanks, Diane. I'm a news junky. My inbox is filled with substack columns, newspaper headlines, and other media links. I HAVE to know. ADHD. God grant me the serenity to change the things I can and whiskey to cope with the rest. Or something.
I do hope Disney or someone picks up on your books. I have watched Reacher Seasons one and two, three times already. I would sure watch your series. Especially if you starred in it.

  7. The fact you are keeping the blog may just indicate this is more of an "Aloha" than a good bye. Regardless, we will continue to bump into each other I am sure. Be well my friend. Be well.

  8. I see that you go back 16-years, which is about when I started. For me, blogging used to be more enjoyable, it's true, but then I wouldn't be having more fun if I didn't blog, and there's also the fact that I feel compelled to do it.

    1. Blog as long as it is good for you. It is almost therapy for you isn't it?

  9. I know what you're feeling. Mental fatigue. When something that's meant to be something you do for the fun of it stops being fun, it's time to step away.

  10. Thanks for your many informative and humorous blog posts. Like the rest I understand the exhaustion that our world events bring every day. Keep well, as the kids say, go out and touch grass.

  11. I'm blog-tired too, as you have probably noticed, as I have only posted once, or is it twice? so far this year. Lacking in inspiration. Not quite sure why I don't seem to be able to find the enthusiasm. I've loved getting to know you and I still have your email address somewhere, you'll be hearing from me. Stay well, hugs to Tanya, pats on the head to Lucky. F
