Help. I've fallen down a rabbit hole and I can't get out

I started working on a blog post about a week ago and started doing some research on the subject. Of course this is no Mickey Mouse topic and there is no end of information some good some bad. I have 11 pages of notes and another post written I am still waiting for clearance from those concerned before I can post it.

It is not so much of a rabit hole as an ant colony. Watch this as they pour molten aluminum into a fire ant colony. Once you open it to play, YouTube suggests serveral others like it. Enjoy complexity

You can read this in the meantime. Very well written article on the current Israeli-Palestinian war.

  1. Rabbit holes can be very deep indeed. I hope you left a trail of bread crumbs to find your way back out again.

    1. I'd be happier if people read the article.
I think I have enough material now to write at least one post, maybe three

  2. Ah, the dreaded rabbit hole. I've been down so many, I have a frequent-diver card. It's always interesting, but you sure lose a lot of time down there!

    1. Depending on why you went down the rabbit hole. I learn a great deal while I am down there because I went for a specific purpose. Never enough to be an expert in a field but at least enough not to be too ignorant. I live to learn.

  3. I read the article... well, most of it, I got a bit bogged down in the history. But it all boils down to too much hate on both sides. Easy to say, but what to do about it? I had a wonderful holiday in Israel about 30 years ago, but I still remember there were many places we went where I could feel a definite tension. The ant hill video is fascinating.

    1. The more you learn about the history of Pzlestine from about 1900 on, the more you understand the pent up hatred of teh Palestinians for Israel

  4. I was expecting a more ants to come rushing out when they dug up the aluminum. The structure is fascinating.
The worst is when the squirrels follow me down a rabbit hole!

A long while ago, I read something that seems very applicable to the article (only gave it a fast read so far though) -
A person from another part of the world asked a person about why they continued a war for so long to regain their land . The person said - when someone steals and eats your chicken, there's no more chicken to fight over. When someone steals and wrecks you car, there's no more car to fight over. When someone steals and occupies your land, the land is still there. We see our home, occupied by the thieves, still there to fight over.

    1. Pouring molten aluminum into fire ant nests is a fun pastime as it kills the ants and makes cool shapes. Fire ants are dangerous.
You figured out the Palestinian situation very nicely. I like that story and may steal it.

  5. We once destroyed an art colony. They took refugee in our home. Long as they don't invade. I leave them alone. Some reason there not fan of white vinegar.

    1. There are red and black ants and then there are fire ants, mostly found south of where you live. I agree, leave them alone. In fall we have tiny black ants invade our home and put out bait for them. One morning I got up and there was a long line of ants climbing up the wall and across the table to the sugar bowl. I laughed so hard.
