I wonder how South America is fairing. I know a lot of the feed they grow goes for european cattle. Here ranchers are selling off their stocks and beef prices are expected to sky rocket. Chicken, pork and fish isn't cheap either.
Shoe leather might start to look tasty. Darn forgot, they're all man made materials now.
The maps of the USA drought look pretty bad. it is the multi-year droughts that are the real killers of the cattle industry. Saw an article today that calculated feedlot losses in 2012 as likely historical highs of up to $260 per head because of feed costs. Not good at all.

DeleteWe've had weird experiences in the mid-prairie. First heat, heat, heat. Then rain, rain, rain. Now heat and humidity — reminds me of Toronto!
