An Icy World

It rained last night.  At 8:00 pm the temperature was about +2C.  By this morning it was back to normal and tonight it is -17C.  I was out to look after the dogs, take them warm water and make sure they had enough food.  Their yard looked like the pictures below.  The fields are still covered with snow, though the road ruts are solid ice.

  1. We had the same weather here last year. When the streets were rutty and impassable the mayor patted himself on the back saying what a great job he did. He got voted out.

  3. My idea of a perfect winter would be 1 or 2 feet of snow, -20C weather and NO wind for three months. Enough to kill most unpleasant bugs, microbial or otherwise. Then it could warm up to spring. this up and down temperature is good for neither man nor beast.

  4. You terrible, evil man — making your poor, darling puppies stay outside in weather like this! The least you could have done was built a chalet for them, and surrounded it with straw bales for insulation. Didn't you learn anything in Saskatchewan?

  5. RB, they have a lean-to cave covered with felt blankets and inside is a mattress and more felt blankets. There is a felt blanket hanging over the entrance with just a small space to enter. From the looks of it they don't sleep inside, just on the blankets outside.
Finding straw bales in Ukraine is no easy task.
