RB, on Youtube there is a video of The Weavers singing Goodnight Irene live at Carnegie Hall at their last performance together. I saw the show on TV when it was first filmed. That video still brings tears to my eyes, remembering the Weavers from 50 and 60 years ago.
Waylon Jennings... in 1969? whoa ... wouldn't have recognized him ... certainly would have recognized that voice though!
love it and this song? can't recall ever hearing it.
Love the Highway Men... Luckenbach, Texas is a hoot... just found your blog and am having a fine time rummaging through it and even googled where you live. The Ukraine... seems almost mythical to me.
How interesting... I read Murrmurrs - she kills me...
Thanks for dropping by and all the nice things you wrote. Murrmurrs is a wonderful blog. I learned never to have a mouth full of coffee when reading her blog. Green River was from possibly the only movie Waylon ever starred in. He was one of my favourite singers in the 60s

Oh they built the ship Titanic, that the water'd not go through
ReplyDeleteAnd sent her out to sea, in nineteen ten and two.
Irene good night, Irene good night,
Good night, Irene, Good night, Irene
I'll see you in my dreams.
Yeah, lots of them old songs. Lots of them.
